Daniel Simpson has a background in fine arts and engineering, having studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and Temple University in Philadelphia. Combining skills learned in both areas led him to begin working with wood.
All wood used is sourced from local, family run Pennsylvania sawmills which source sustainable lumber, and cut it to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. From there each piece of wood is examined to determine what type of furniture would best accentuate the qualities in the grain.
All furniture is made with hand tools, and fit with traditional joinery (mortice and tennons, dovetail joints, etc... ) largely without the use of any metal fasteners. Great care is taken in the design to allow for seasonal movement within the wood, and proper finishing so that your piece can last for generations.
